Catan

Settlers of Catan is an excellent home multiplayer game of trading, resource control, government and exploration.

Catan, the PC Version, is not quite so lucky. If you can play hotseat multiplayer at your home then this game is just as good as the basic board game; However, if you have never played Settlers of Catan before you may not be able to get into it.

For single player you can play 3-4 players against the computer. They know well enough to never trade resources that would permit you to win the game. In addition, they know well enough that if you control a port, a location where you may trade resources with the bank at a lower cost, they will be more reasonable with their trades.

The graphics are the same as the board game and experienced players can quickly dive in. While there is no ingame tutorial there is a separate tutorial that explains the rules pretty well.

In conclusion, if you are a fan of Settlers of Catan and just want to play by yourself or simply don't have a home version available then this game is easy to recommend. For everyone else, it would be a better idea to play the home board game.

They are the same as the original game and the menus are easy to understand.

Gameplay: 5/10
Best for hotseat multiplayer, but if you are doing that you may as well just play the board game if you have it. The AI is effective enough, but it is just not the same. The mouse control are flawless making the game incrediblely easy to play.

Summary: 3 Stars out of 5
A very good version of the board game Settlers of Catan. So much so that there is no special reason to play it if you can play the board game. If you cannot then this game is definitely a good game to try out some time.
